"Students like Li Huiyang, who understand both technical principles and on-site problem-solving, are exactly the 'international technicians' we need," said the person in charge of overseas projects at Zhongyuan Internal Combustion Engine Fittings Group Co., Ltd. recently.
Li Huiyang, praised by the person in charge, is a 2022-enrolled student majoring in Mechatronics Technology at Henan Mechanical and Electrical Vocational College. Having just graduated this year, he is now a technical backbone on the enterprise's overseas production line.
"'On-site Classroom' is not a simple 'internship'; instead, it takes the enterprise's real practical projects as teaching materials and the workshop as the classroom," said the dean of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of the college.
In March 2024, through the college's "On-site Classroom" training model, Li Huiyang entered the workshop and started his "skill practice": ABB robot debugging, program writing, logic optimization of intelligent pipe brushing machines... The practical operation of 10 projects covering three major industrial robot brands allowed him to truly understand the meaning of "technology must be implemented in practice".
Due to his ability to quickly transform the "general technology" learned in class into "customized solutions" for solving enterprise problems, Li Huiyang was "recruited" by the enterprise before graduation and was soon sent to Thailand to participate in important projects.
Upon his arrival in Thailand, Li Huiyang immediately encountered the practical challenges of "technology going global": compatibility issues of communication protocols between devices, the adaptation period of Thai workers to Chinese standards, the impact of the hot and humid climate on equipment components... However, the knowledge reserve from class became his "key" to solving these problems.
"Teachers in class talked about the differences in electrical standards among different countries. Now, when debugging programs, I can quickly compare Chinese standards with Thai standards and adjust the grounding resistance and voltage parameters," said Li Huiyang.
Li Huiyang's growth journey is a microcosm of the international development of Henan Mechanical and Electrical Vocational College.
From "borrowing a ship to see the sea" to "sailing with the ship to go global", and then to "building a ship to explore the sea", the college has combined the "Three-Ship Going Global" model with the first batch of "Dahe Workshop" brand projects in Henan Province to build a new cross-border school-enterprise collaborative education system.
